What data we collect and why

Website analytics

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use our website. This collects anonymised data including pages visited, time on site, approximate location (country/city level), device type, and referral source. Google Analytics uses cookies to distinguish users. We use this data to improve the website and understand what content is useful.

Lawful basis: Legitimate interest in understanding website usage and improving our content.

LinkedIn Insights Tag

We use the LinkedIn Insight Tag on our website to measure the effectiveness of LinkedIn advertising campaigns and to understand the professional demographics of our visitors (such as job title, industry, and company size) in aggregate. This tag places a cookie on your browser. LinkedIn may use this data in accordance with its own privacy policy.

Lawful basis: Legitimate interest in measuring advertising effectiveness and understanding our audience.

Contact forms

When you submit a form on our website, we collect the information you provide, which typically includes your name, email address, company, and any message you write. We use this to respond to your enquiry and, where relevant, to follow up about our services.

Lawful basis: Legitimate interest in responding to enquiries and providing our services.

Meeting bookings

If you book a meeting through our website, we collect your name, email address, and any information you provide in the booking form. This data is processed by our scheduling tool to arrange the meeting.

Lawful basis: Legitimate interest in arranging meetings you have requested.

LinkedIn lead generation ads

If you submit a lead form through one of our LinkedIn advertising campaigns, LinkedIn shares the information you provide (typically your name, email address, and professional details) with us. We use this to follow up on your interest in our services or content.

Lawful basis: Consent, as provided through the LinkedIn lead form.

Newsletter

Our newsletter, The Product Marketer, is hosted on Substack. If you subscribe, Substack collects your email address and manages the subscription. Substack has its own privacy policy which governs how they handle your data. We use your email address to send the newsletter and may view aggregate engagement data (such as open rates).

Lawful basis: Consent, provided when you subscribe.

Cookies

Our website uses the following cookies:

  • Google Analytics cookies (_ga, ga*) - Used to distinguish users and track website usage. These expire after 2 years.

  • LinkedIn Insight Tag cookie (li_sugr, UserMatchHistory, AnalyticsSyncHistory, bcookie, lidc, ln_or) - Used to measure ad performance and provide aggregated audience insights. Expiry varies by cookie.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies. Blocking cookies may affect your experience of the website but will not prevent you from accessing content.
